ANBI Status (in Progress)
Light of Hope Sri Lanka is currently in the process of becoming officially registered as a Public Benefit Organization (ANBI) in the Netherlands. We are committed to meeting all legal and ethical standards required by the Dutch Tax Authority. As 2025 marks our first operational year, there is no financial overview available yet. However, we are fully dedicated to building a transparent and accountable foundation from the very beginning.

What is an ANBI?
ANBI stands for Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, which means Public Benefit Organization. To qualify as an ANBI, a foundation must meet specific legal criteria, including:
-
A focus on the public good (at least 90% of all efforts)
-
No profit motive
-
Transparent financial reporting
-
Reasonable compensation policy
-
Ethical and responsible management
Light of Hope fully complies with these requirements.

Main Policy Plan:
The Light of Hope Sri Lanka Foundation was established with the aim of supporting the poorest and most vulnerable people in Sri Lanka. Through concrete projects, the foundation supports families, children, and communities in the areas of housing, education, food supply, and spiritual care.
The aid is organized locally by a dedicated team connected to a church in Sri Lanka. The projects are funded from the Netherlands. The foundation not only provides direct assistance but also aims to offer perspective and contribute to a better future for those involved.
Light of Hope Sri Lanka carries out various projects to improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups. Homes are repaired and renovated, with essential facilities such as toilets and access to clean water being installed.
To promote food security, the foundation provides food packages and encourages crop cultivation on agricultural land. These food packages are regularly distributed to families with children in need and to schools.
Light of Hope invests in local communities to foster connection and encourage mutual support when needed.
The importance of education is emphasized through the support of schools and the provision of scholarships for underprivileged children.
In addition, the foundation offers financial sponsorship opportunities for orphans, helping to meet their basic needs and fund their education.
In times of crisis, such as natural disasters or economic emergencies, immediate relief is provided to affected families. The Light of Hope Foundation is designed to help people solely on a voluntary and non-profit basis. We aim to keep costs as low as possible. This is achieved by relying on contributions and services from our own network. For example, the website is developed free of charge, and travel expenses to visit project locations are covered personally by volunteers.
The foundation’s finances are managed by the founder, who is a financial controller by profession. Oversight is provided by reviewing quarterly financial reports with the board and ensuring full transparency. Financial statements are prepared and/or reviewed by an external financial advisor, who also checks the profit and loss account.
Sources of Income:
– Donations through churches in the Netherlands
– One-time gifts and monthly donors
– Sponsorship of children (adoption program)
– Fundraising through flyers and cards at events
By offering people the choice to contribute either monthly or with a one-time donation, we aim to provide flexibility and multiple ways to support our mission. With our ANBI status (Public Benefit Organization), donations may be tax-deductible for Dutch donors.
Financial Report
While we do not yet have an annual report to share, as 2025 is our starting year, we are committed to full transparency. Once our first operational year is complete, we will publish a detailed financial report outlining how donations are used and the positive impact they create.
Funding and Sponsorship
We invite sponsors and donors to support this initiative through financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteering efforts. Every donation will be transparently utilized to directly benefit children in need, ensuring accountability and measurable impact.
